Kensley Whittington of Tecumseh 4-H Wins Supreme Champion Commercial Gilt

Friday wrapped up the Commercial Gilt show at the 2023 Oklahoma Youth Expo- with the selection of the Supreme Champions and Sale order for the Night of Stars Gilt Sale that happens this coming Wednesday. Friday wrapped up with the first of the Purebred breeds showing in the OYE Purebred Gilt competition.

The Supreme Drive for Commercial Gilts at the 2023 OYE has just finished- Supreme Champion was the Champion Dark Cross owned by Kensley Whittington of Tecumseh 4-H- Kensley wins $3,000 plus a high slot in the Night of Stars Gilt sale

Reserve Supreme Commercial was also a dark cross- owned by Gage Winters of Altus FFA- winning $2,500 as Reserve champion

And- the Bronze Medallion Commercial Gilt is the Bronze dark cross- Madeline McClain of Leedey FFA gets a check for $1,000- these three were congratulated by OYE Vice Chair Jimmy Harrell of Bank of Western Oklahoma and Ryan Lenaburg from Devon Energy.

The three breeds that were shown on Friday in Barn 6 were the Durocs, Landrace and Polands.

Champion Duroc is owned by Collin Wharton of Wilson FFA with the Reserve Champion Duroc gilt also coming from the Wilson FFA Chapter- shown by Garrett Evans.

The Champion Landrace gilt was shown by Connor Imhoff of Prague 4-H while the Reserve Landrace is owned by Kodi Kastl of Perkins 4-H.

In the Poland breed- 2023 Champion Gilt was shown by Wade Richey of Altus 4-H with the Reserve Poland gilt shown by Channing Goodson of Tecumseh 4-H.
