Oklahoma’s Good to Excellent Winter Wheat Ratings Decline 6 Percentage Points Since Last Week

Nationwide, winter wheat was rated 27 percent good to excellent, unchanged from the previous week and three percentage points behind last year’s good-to-excellent rating of 30 percent. That’s still the lowest rating for the crop in over three decades.

Oklahoma crop conditions continue to decline due to little rainfall, while in Washington, the crop is rated 45 percent good to excellent.

OKLAHOMA:

Winter wheat jointing reached 66 percent, up 14 points from the previous year but down 8 points from normal. Winter wheat headed reached 15 percent, up 15 points from the previous year and up 4 points from normal. Winter wheat conditions rated 13 percent good to excellent, 34 percent fair, and 53 percent poor to very poor. Last week’s ratings were 19 percent good to excellent, 34 percent fair, and 46 percent poor to very poor. 

Corn planted reached 21 percent, up 4 percent from the previous year and the average.

Sorghum planted reached 8 percent, up 8 percent from a year ago and up 6 percent from the average.

Pasture and range conditions rated 13 percent good to excellent, 29 percent fair, and 58 percent poor to very poor. Last week’s conditions rated 11 percent good to excellent, 25 percent fair, and 64 percent poor to very poor. 

Livestock conditions rated 38 percent good to excellent, 39 percent fair, and 23 percent poor to very poor. Last week’s conditions rated 38 percent good to excellent, 43 percent fair, and 19 percent poor to very poor. 

KANSAS:

Winter wheat jointing was 27 percent, behind 32 percent last year and 35 for the five-year average. Winter wheat conditions rated 14 percent good to excellent, 26 percent fair, and 60 percent poor to very poor. Last week’s conditions rated 13 percent good to excellent, 26 percent fair, and 61 percent poor to very poor. 

Corn planted was 17 percent, ahead of 11 percent last year and the 10 percent average.

Soybeans planted was 2 percent, near last year’s 1 percent.

TEXAS:

Winter wheat headed reached 35 percent, up 6 points from the previous year and down 2 points from the average. Winter wheat conditions rated 16 percent good to excellent, 32 percent fair and 52 percent poor to very poor. Last week’s conditions rated 17 percent good to excellent, 36 percent fair and 57 percent poor to very poor. 

Corn planted reached 65 percent, up 1 point from the previous year and up 4 points from the average. Corn emerged reached 56 percent, up 8 points from the previous year and up 10 points from the average.

Sorghum planted reached 52 percent, down 4 points from the previous year and down 6 points from the average.

Range and pasture conditions rated 15 percent good to excellent, 28 percent fair and 57 percent poor to very poor. Last week’s conditions rated 12 percent good to excellent, 29 percent fair and 59 percent poor to very poor.
