Oklahoma’s Winter Wheat Conditions Get a Boost in This Week’s Crop Progress Report

U.S. Crop Progress:

Winter wheat headed for the U.S. reached 49 percent, up 3 percentage points from the previous year and up one point from the average. Winter wheat conditions rated 29 percent good to excellent, 30 percent fair and 41 percent poor to very poor. Last week’s conditions rated 29 percent good to excellent, 27 percent fair and 44 percent poor to very poor. 

Corn planted reached 65 percent, up 20 percentage points from the previous year and down 6 points from the average. Corn emerged reached 30 percent, up 17 points from the previous year and up 5 points from the average.

Soybeans planted reached 49 percent, up 22 points from the previous year and up 13 points from the average. Soybeans emerged reached 20 percent, up 12 points from the previous year and up 9 points from the average.

Range and pasture conditions rated 34 percent good to excellent, 33 percent fair and 37 percent poor to very poor. Last week’s conditions rated 33 percent good to excellent, 30 percent fair and 37 percent poor to very poor.

OKLAHOMA:

Winter wheat headed reached 84 percent, up 9 points from the previous year but down 2 points from normal. Winter wheat conditions rated 11 percent good to excellent, 38 percent fair and 51 percent poor to very poor. Last week’s conditions rated 7 percent good to excellent, 29 percent fair, and 64 percent poor to very poor. 

Corn planted reached 58 percent, up 16 points from the previous year and up 2 points from normal. Corn emerged reached 43 percent, up 19 points from the previous year and up 8 points from normal.

Sorghum planted reached 23 percent, up 16 points from the previous year and up 9 points from normal.

Soybeans planted reached 18 percent, down 5 points from the previous year and down 8 points from normal.

Peanuts planted reached 15 percent, up 3 points from the previous year but down 6 points from normal.

Cotton planted reached 16 percent, down 2 points from the previous year and down 1 point from normal.

Livestock conditions rated 44 percent good to excellent, 38 percent fair and 18 percent poor to very poor. Last week’s conditions rated 40 percent good to excellent, 44 percent fair, and 16 percent poor to very poor. 

Pasture and range conditions rated 23 percent good to excellent, 33 percent fair and 44 percent poor to very poor. Last week’s conditions rated 19 percent good to excellent, 27 percent fair and 54 percent poor to very poor. 

KANSAS:

Winter wheat jointed was 87 percent, behind 92 percent last year, and near 91 percent for the five-year average. Headed was 54 percent, near 56 percent last year, but ahead of 49 percent average. Winter wheat conditions rated 10 percent good to excellent, 22 percent fair and 69 percent poor to very poor. Last week’s conditions rated 11 percent good to excellent, 21 percent fair and 38 percent poor to very poor. 

Corn planted was 61 percent, near 58 percent last year and 62 percent average. Emerged was 36 percent, ahead of 26 percent last year, and near 34 percent average.

Soybeans planted was 42 percent, ahead of 30 percent last year and 29 percent average. Emerged was 17 percent, ahead of 10 percent last year and 8 percent average.

Sorghum planted was 7 percent, near 5 percent both last year and average.

Cotton planted was 35 percent, near 37 percent last year, but ahead of 21 percent average.

Pasture and range conditions rated 13 percent good to excellent, 27 percent fair and 60 percent poor to very poor. Last week’s conditions rated 11 percent good to excellent, 25 percent fair and 64 percent poor to very poor.

TEXAS:

Winter wheat headed reached 84 percent, down one point from the previous year and down 3 points from the average. Wheat conditions rated 20 percent good to excellent, 28 percent fair and 52 percent poor to very poor. Last week’s conditions rated 20 percent good to excellent, 24 percent fair, and 56 percent poor to very poor.

Corn planted reached 81 percent, down 5 points from the previous year and down 3 points from the average. Corn emerged reached 75 percent, up 3 points from the previous year and up 4 points from the average. Corn silking reached 20 percent, up 11 points from the previous year and up 7 points from the average. Corn conditions rated 72 percent good to excellent, 25 percent fair and 3 percent poor to very poor.

Cotton planted reached 30 percent, up one point from the previous year and down two points from the average.

Sorghum planted reached 76 percent, up 3 points from the previous year and down one point from the average. Sorghum headed reached 20 percent, up 7 points from the previous year and up 4 points from the average.

Soybeans planted reached 50 percent, down 11 points from the previous year and the average. Soybeans emerged reached 30 percent, down 4 points from the previous year and the average.

Range and pasture conditions rated 27 percent good to excellent, 22 percent fair and 51 percent poor to very poor. Last week’s conditions rated 26 percent good to excellent, 22 percent fair, and 52 percent poor to very poor.
