Oklahoma’s Good to Excellent Winter Wheat Ratings Jump 20 Percent This Week

U.S Crop Progress:

Winter wheat headed for the U.S. reached 72 percent, up one percentage point from the previous year and down one from the average. Winter wheat conditions rated 34 percent good to excellent, 31 percent fair, and 35 percent poor to very poor. Last week’s conditions rated 31 percent good to excellent, 29 percent fair, and 40 percent poor to very poor. 

Corn planted reached 92 percent, up 8 percentage points from the previous year and the average. Corn emerged reached 72 percent, up 14 points from the previous year and up 9 points from the average. Corn conditions rated 69 percent good to excellent, 26 percent fair and 5 percent poor to very poor.

Soybeans planted reached 83 percent, up 19 percent from the previous year and up 18 percent from the average. Soybeans emerged reached 56 percent, up 20 percentage points from the previous year and up 16 from the average.

OKLAHOMA:

Winter Wheat conditions rated 30 percent good to excellent, 43 percent fair and 27 percent poor to very poor. Last week’s conditions rated 10 percent good to excellent, 38 percent fair and 52 percent poor to very poor. 

Corn planted reached 75 percent, down 1 point from the previous year and down 2 points from normal. Corn emerged reached 61 percent, up 2 points from the previous year but down 1 point from normal. Corn conditions rated 71 percent good to excellent, 26 percent fair and 3 percent poor to very poor.

Sorghum planted reached 26 percent, up 2 points from the previous year but down 1 point from normal.

Soybeans planted reached 35 percent, up 1 point from the previous year but down 7 points from normal. Soybeans emerged reached 12 percent, down 3 points from the previous year. Peanuts planted reached 37 percent, up 6 points from the previous year but down 5 points from normal.

Cotton planted reached 32 percent, down 6 points from the previous year but unchanged from normal.

Livestock conditions rated 51 percent good to excellent, 39 percent fair and 16 percent poor to very poor. Last week’s conditions rated 48 percent good to excellent, 43 percent fair and 9 percent poor to very poor. 

Pasture and range conditions rated 45 percent good to excellent, 39 percent fair and 16 percent poor to very poor. Last week’s conditions rated 33 percent good to excellent, 28 percent fair and 39 percent poor to very poor.

KANSAS:

Winter wheat jointed was 95 percent, near 99 percent for both last year and the five-year average. Headed was 84 percent, behind 94 percent last year and 90 percent average. Winter wheat conditions rated 10 percent good to excellent, 21 percent fair and 69 percent poor to very poor. Last week’s conditions rated the same.

Corn condition rated 3 percent very poor, 6 percent poor, 39 percent fair, 45 percent good, and 7 percent excellent. Corn planted was 82 percent, near 85 percent last year and 84 percent average. Emerged was 66 percent, ahead of 59 percent last year, and near 65 percent average.

Soybeans planted was 71 percent, ahead of 55 percent last year and 52 percent average. Emerged was 46 percent, ahead of 33 percent both last year and the average.

Sorghum planted was 22 percent, near 19 percent last year, and ahead of the 17 percent average.

Cotton condition rated 2 percent very poor, 10 percent poor, 47 percent fair, 40 percent good, and 1 percent excellent. Cotton planted was 59 percent, well behind 82 percent last year, and near the 60 percent average.

Pasture and range conditions rated 15 percent good to excellent, 34 percent fair and 51 percent poor to very poor. Last week’s conditions rated 15 percent good to excellent, 35 percent fair, and 50 percent poor to very poor.

TEXAS:

Winter wheat headed reached 95 percent, even with the previous year and down 2 percent from the average. Winter wheat conditions rated 23 percent good to excellent, 37 percent fair and 40 percent poor to very poor. Last week’s conditions rated 23 percent good to excellent, 32 percent fair, and 45 percent poor to very poor. 

Corn planted reached 92 percent, down 2 percentage points from the previous year and the average. Corn emerged reached 85 percent, down 2 points from the previous year and the average. Corn conditions rated 75 percent good to excellent, 21 percent fair, and 4 percent poor to very poor.

Peanuts planted reached 45 percent, down 13 percent from the previous year and down 12 from the average. Peanut conditions rated 44 percent good to excellent, 38 percent fair and 18 percent poor to very poor.

Sorghum planted reached 83 percent, up 2 percentage points from the previous year and down one from the average.

Range and pasture conditions rated 39 percent good to excellent, 35 percent fair, and 27 percent poor to very poor. Last week’s conditions rated 33 percent good to excellent, 31 percent fair, and 36 percent poor to very poor.
