Stillwater FFA of Oklahoma was named the 2023 Premier Chapter: Building Communities during the fifth general session of the 96th National FFA Convention & Expo this year in Indianapolis.
Formerly known as Models of Innovation, this recognizes the top FFA program out the 9,139 programs nationwide with regards to innovative ways for giving back to our local community. Credit for this goes to any Stillwater FFA member who has ever competed the $5 Challenge Project. In addition, we are so proud of Makenzy Serna and Maddie Bishop for representing us through the entire competition!
Stillwater FFA wanted to demonstrate that a little can go a long way. Through their Changing the World with a $5 Bill challenge, 75 participating members were each given $5 (provided through donated funds) and three months to invest in serving the community. This resulted in 405 hours of service, impacting 1,541 community members.
The National Chapter Award program recognizes outstanding FFA chapters that actively implement the organization’s mission and strategies. These chapters improve operations using the National Quality FFA Chapter Standards and a Program of Activities that emphasizes growing leaders, building communities, and strengthening agriculture. Chapters are rewarded for providing educational experiences for the entire membership.
National FFA recognizes the top chapters with innovative activities in three divisions: growing leaders, building communities and strengthening agriculture. Chapters that receive three-star ratings during judging are eligible to compete for the premier chapter awards. Ten FFA chapters competed for the honor.
