Farm Director KC Sheperd is back talking with Bob Rodenberger, a partner with Stockmans Livestock Marketing, as he gives the latest on the cattle markets and looks back on the year.
“We started out the first of the year, in January, pretty much on an uptrend,” Rodenberger said. “The market has been good. We just kept getting better and better.”
Cow-calf producers have seen great prices for calves this year, Rodenberger said, even with shifts in the market.
“Overall, we have had a tremendous year,” Rodenberger said. “The cow-calf man has had a good year; the people that sold feeder cattle before September got along tremendously.”
Rodenberger said he believes the calf market will stay strong looking ahead, especially if good moisture continues.
