Ben Hale says Producers Remain Cautiously Optimistic Through Strong Cattle Markets

Listen to Ron Hays talk with Ben Hale about the latest in the cattle markets.

On Tuesdays, Senior Farm and Ranch Broadcaster, Ron Hays, visits with Ben Hale of Western Livestock Auctions as he talks about the latest in the markets and more. Established in 1995, Western has grown into a multi-generational family-owned and operated business and stands as a symbol of tradition, excellence, and a deep-rooted passion for the cattle industry. Western Livestock Auctions is located in Oklahoma City, Woodward, and Comanche.

“We had about 7500 or a little more yesterday in Oklahoma City, compared to about 9900 a year ago,” Hale said.

Hale said feeders have been steady, and grazing cattle have been two to four dollars higher per hundredweight.

As the market has moved steadily higher since the beginning of this year, Hale said producers are cautiously optimistic.

“We are going to have a strong market tomorrow at Commanche,” Hale said. “We have got 300 yearlings off one deal. A really nice home-raised deal. There will be some light yearlings to go to grass as well as some mid-weight yearlings and upper feeder cattle.”

Hale said Woodward is expected to have a good run as well this week.
