Oklahoma’s Good to Excellent Winter Wheat Conditions Fall Again; Down 8 Points from Last Week

U.S. Crop Progress:

Winter wheat headed reached 11 percent, up 2 percentage points from the previous year and up 4 points from the five-year average. Winter wheat conditions rated 55 percent good to excellent, 32 percent fair and 13 percent poor to very poor. Last week’s conditions rated 56 percent good to excellent, 32 percent fair and 12 percent poor to very poor.

Corn planted reached 6 percent, down 1 percentage point from the previous year and up 1 point from the five-year average.

Soybeans planted reached 3 percent, even with the previous year and up 2 percentage points from the five-year average.

Cotton planted reached 8 percent, up 1 percentage point from the previous year and even with the five-year average.

Sorghum planted reached 14 percent, even with the previous year an down 2 percentage points from the five-year average.

Oklahoma Crop Progress:

Winter wheat jointing reached 75 percent, up 15 points from the previous year and up 7 points from normal. Winter wheat headed reached 15 percent, up 4 points from the previous year and up 7 points from normal. Winter wheat conditions rated 60 percent good to excellent, 30 percent fair and 10 poor to very poor. Last week’s conditions rated 68 percent good to excellent, 24 percent fair and 8 percent poor to very poor. 

Livestock conditions rated 63 percent good to excellent, 30 percent fair and 7 percent poor to very poor. Last week’s conditions rated 60 percent good to excellent, 31 percent fair, and 9 percent poor to very poor.

Pasture and range conditions rated 42 percent good to excellent, 40 percent fair and 18 percent poor to very poor. Last week’s conditions rated 39 percent good to excellent, 42 percent fair and 19 percent poor to very poor. 

Kansas Crop Progress:

Winter wheat jointed was 52 percent, well ahead of 24 percent last year and 31 percent for the five-year average. Winter wheat conditions rated 43 percent good to excellent, 38 percent fair, and 19 percent poor to very poor. Last week’s conditions rated 49 percent good to excellent, 37 percent fair and 14 percent poor to very poor. 

Corn planted was 13 percent, near 14 percent last year and 10 percent average.

Soybeans planted was 1 percent, equal to last year.

Texas Crop Progress:

Winter wheat headed reached 40 percent, up 6 percentage points from the previous year and down 12 points from the five-year average. Winter wheat conditions rated 48 percent good to excellent, 33 percent fair and 19 percent poor to very poor. Last week’s conditions rated 44 percent good to excellent, 36 percent fair and 20 percent poor to very poor. 

Corn planted reached 63 percent, down 1 percentage point from the previous year and up 2 points from the five-year average. Corn emerged reached 50 percent, down 1 point from the previous year and up 3 points from the five-year average.

Cotton planted reached 13 percent, up 1 percentage point from the previous year and down 1 point from the five-year average.

Sorghum planted reached 51 percent, even with the previous year and down 3 percentage points from the five-year average. Sorghum emerged reached 5 percent, up 5 percentage points from the previous year and up 1 point from the five-year average.

Range and pasture conditions rated 25 percent good to excellent, 32 percent fair and 43 percent poor to very poor. Last week’s conditions rated  22 percent good to excellent, 31 percent fair and 47 percent poor to very poor.
