Oklahoma Winter Wheat Conditions Take a Positive Leap in This Week’s Crop Progress

U.S. Crop Progress:

Winter wheat headed reached 43 percent, up 9 percentage points from the previous year and up 11 points from the five-year average. Winter wheat conditions rated 50 percent good to excellent, 34 percent fair, and 16 percent poor to very poor. Last week’s ratings were 49 percent good to excellent, 35 percent fair, and 16 percent poor to very poor. This time last year, U.S. winter wheat conditions rated 29 percent good to excellent, 27 percent fair, and 44 percent poor to very poor.

Corn planted reached 36 percent, down 6 percentage points from the previous year and down 3 points from the five-year average. Corn emerged reached 12 percent, up 2 points from the previous year and up 3 points from the five-year average.

Soybeans planted reached 25 percent, down 5 percentage points from the previous year and up 4 points from the five-year average. Soybeans emerged reached 9 percent, up 2 points from the previous year and up 5 points from the five-year average.

Cotton planted reached 24 percent, up 4 percentage points from the previous year and the five-year average.

Sorghum planted reached 23 percent, even with the previous year, and up 1 percentage point from the five-year average.

Range and pasture conditions rated 46 percent good to excellent, 29 percent fair and 35 percent poor to very poor. This time last year, those ratings were 33 percent good to excellent, 30 percent fair, and 37 percent poor to very poor.

Oklahoma Crop Progress:

Winter wheat headed reached 67 percent, even with the previous year and up 1 percentage point from the five-year average. Conditions rated 52 percent good to excellent, 41 percent fair, and 7 percent poor to very poor. Last week’s conditions rated 46 percent good to excellent, 40 percent fair, and 14 percent poor to very poor. This time last year, winter wheat conditions rated 7 percent good to excellent, 29 percent fair and 64 percent poor to very poor.

Sorghum planted reached 14 percent, down 5 percentage points from the previous year and up 5 points from the five-year average.

Peanuts planted reached 5 percent, up 1 percentage point from the previous year and even with the five-year average.

Livestock conditions rated 70 percent good to excellent, 25 percent fair and 5 percent poor to very poor. Last week’s ratings were 72 percent good to excellent, 24 percent fair, and 4 percent poor to very poor.

Pasture and range conditions rated 52 percent good to excellent, 38 percent fair and 10 percent poor to very poor. Last week’s conditions rated 44 percent good to excellent, 35 percent fair and 21 percent poor to very poor.

Kansas Crop Progress:

Winter wheat headed reached 54 percent, up 28 percentage points from the previous year and up 33 points from the five-year average. Winter wheat conditions rated 32 percent good to excellent, 35 percent fair and 33 percent poor to very poor. Last week’s conditions rated 31 percent good to excellent, 38 percent fair, and 31 percent poor to very poor. This time last year, winter wheat conditions rated 11 percent good to excellent, 21 percent fair and 68 percent poor to very poor.

Corn planted reached 51 percent, up 8 percentage points from the previous year and the five-year average. Corn emerged reached 29 percent, up 12 points from the previous year and the five-year average.

Soybeans planted reached 22 percent, down 3 points from the previous year and up 7 from the five-year average. Soybeans emerged reached 5 percent, even with the previous year and up 3 points from the five-year average.

Cotton planted reached 4 percent, up 2 percentage points from the previous year and down 2 points from the five-year average.

Sorghum planted reached 4 percent, up 1 percentage point from the previous year and up 2 points from the five-year average.

Pasture and range conditions rated 37 percent good to excellent, 39 percent fair and 24 percent poor to very poor.

Texas Crop Progress:

Winter wheat headed reached 75 percent, even with the previous year and the five-year average. Winter wheat conditions rated 48 percent good to excellent, 33 percent fair and 19 percent poor to very poor. Last week’s conditions rated 48 percent good to excellent, 38 percent fair and 14 percent poor to very poor. This time last year, winter wheat conditions in Texas rated 20 percent good to excellent, 24 percent fair and 56 percent poor to very poor.

Corn planted reached 76 percent, even with the previous year and up 2 percentage points from the five-year average. Corn emerged reached 67 percent, up 1 point from the previous year and up 6 points from the five-year average.

Cotton planted reached 41 percent, up 1 percentage point from the previous year and up 18 percentage points from the five-year average.

Sorghum planted reached 71 percent, down 1 percentage point from the previous year and up 1 point from the five-year average.

Peanuts planted reached 6 percent, even with the previous year and down 1 percentage point from the five-year average.
