Winter Wheat and Range and Pasture Conditions Hold Steady as Oklahoma Harvest Continues On

U.S. Crop Progress:

Winter wheat headed reached 77 percent, up 8 percentage points from the previous year and the five-year average. Winter wheat conditions rated 48 percent good to excellent, 33 percent fair and 19 percent poor to very poor- not changed much from last week. This time last year, winter wheat conditions rated 34 percent good to excellent, 31 percent fair and 35 percent poor to very poor.

Corn planted reached 83 percent, down 6 percentage points from the previous year and up 1 point from the five-year average. Corn emerged reached 58 percent, down 8 points from the previous year and even with the average.

Soybeans planted reached 68 percent, down 10 percentage points from the previous year and up 5 points from the five-year average. Soybeans emerged reached 39 percent, down 11 points from the previous year and up 3 points from the average.  

Cotton planted reached 59 percent, up 3 percentage points from the previous year and up 2 points from the five-year average. Cotton squaring reached 4 percent, up 1 point from the previous year and down 1 point from the average. Cotton conditions rated 60 percent good to excellent, 35 percent fair and 5 percent poor to very poor. This time last year, cotton conditions rated 48 percent good to excellent, 39 percent fair and 13 percent poor to very poor.

Range and pasture conditions rated 48 percent good to excellent, 30 percent fair and 22 percent poor to very poor. This time last year, conditions rated 43 percent good to excellent, 35 percent fair and 22 percent poor to very poor.

Oklahoma Crop Progress:

Winter wheat harvested reached 12 percent, up 12 points from the previous week and up 11 points from normal. Winter wheat conditions rated 53 percent good to excellent, 32 percent fair and 15 percent poor to very poor. Last week’s conditions rated 51 percent good to excellent, 35 percent fair and 14 percent poor to very poor. This time last year, conditions rated 30 percent good to excellent, 43 percent fair and 27 percent poor to very poor.

Corn planted reached 91 percent, up 10 points from the previous week and up 20 points from normal. Corn emerged reached 81 percent, up 20 points from the previous week and up 24 points from normal. Corn conditions rated 81 percent good to excellent, 17 percent fair and 2 percent poor to very poor. Last week’s conditions rated 84 percent good to excellent, 14 percent fair and 2 percent poor to very poor.

Sorghum planted reached 40 percent, up 8 points from the previous week and up 18 points from normal.

Soybeans planted reached 29 percent, up 5 points from the previous week but down 7 points from normal.

Peanuts planted reached 49 percent, up 19 points from the previous week and up 17 points from normal.

Cotton planted reached 38 percent, up 18 points from the previous week and up 12 points from normal.

Livestock conditions rated 73 percent good to excellent, 23 percent fair and 4 percent poor to very poor. Last week’s conditions rated 74 percent good to excellent, 22 percent fair and 4 percent poor to very poor. 

Pasture and range conditions rated 57 percent good to excellent, 36 percent fair and 7 percent poor to very poor. Last week’s conditions rated the same. This time last year, pasture and range conditions rated 45 percent good to excellent, 39 percent fair and 16 percent poor to very poor.

Kansas Crop Progress:

Winter wheat headed reached 94 percent, up 13 percentage points from the previous year and up 8 points from the five-year average. Winter wheat conditions rated 32 percent good to excellent, 36 percent fair and 32 percent poor to very poor. Last week’s conditions rated 33 percent good to excellent, 36 percent fair and 31 percent poor to very poor. This time last year, conditions rated 10 percent good to excellent, 21 percent fair and 69 percent poor to very poor.

Corn planted reached 85 percent, up 6 percentage points from the previous year and up 5 points from the five-year average. Corn emerged reached 68 percent, up 5 points from the previous year and up 10 points from the five-year average.

Soybeans planted reached 55 percent, down 11 percentage points from the previous year and up 5 points from the five-year average. Soybeans emerged reached 34 percent, down 8 points from the previous year and up 4 points from the average.

Cotton planted reached 72 percent, up 18 percentage points from the previous year and up 19 points from the five-year average. Cotton conditions rated 64 percent good to excellent, 33 percent fair and 3 percent poor to very poor.

Sorghum planted reached 24 percent, up 5 percentage points from the previous year and up 10 points from the five-year average.

Pasture and range conditions rated 46 percent good to excellent, 33 percent fair and 21 percent poor to very poor. This time last year, conditions rated 15 percent good to excellent, 34 percent fair and 51 percent poor to very poor.

Winter wheat conditions rated 36 percent good to excellent, 44 percent fair and 20 percent poor to very poor. Last week’s conditions rated 39 percent good to excellent, 39 percent fair and 22 percent poor to very poor. This time last year, conditions rated 23 percent good to excellent, 37 percent fair and 40 percent poor to very poor.

Corn planted reached 92 percent, up 1 percentage point from the previous year and down 1 point from the five-year average. Corn emerged reached 83 percent, even with the previous year and down 2 points form the average. Corn silked reached 40 percent, up 3 points from the previous year and up 8 points from the average. Corn conditions rated 63 percent good to excellent, 27 percent fair and 10 percent poor to very poor. Last week’s conditions rated 59 percent good to excellent, 30 percent fair, and 11 percent poor to very poor.

Cotton planted reached 50 percent, up 4 percentage points from the previous year and up 1 point from the five-year average. Cotton squaring reached 7 percent, up 3 points from the previous year and down 1 point from the average. Cotton conditions rated 49 percent good to excellent, 44 percent fair and 7 percent poor to very poor.

Peanuts planted reached 65 percent, up 24 percentage points from the previous year and up 17 points from the five-year average. Peanut conditions rated 45 percent good to excellent, 54 percent fair and 1 percent poor to very poor.

Sorghum planted reached 82 percent, even with the previous year and up 1 percentage point from the five-year average. Sorghum headed reached 36 percent, up 3 points from the previous year and up 4 points from the five-year average.

Soybeans planted reached 55 percent, down 8 percentage points from the previous year and down 14 points from the five-year average. Soybeans emerged reached 37 percent, up 3 points form the previous year and down 13 points from the five-year average.
