Get BQA’d at Woodward Livestock Auction

Beef Quality Assurance (BQA) certification is an easy and effective way to pursue continued education in the cattle business. Oklahoma ranchers can become BQA certified, or renew an expired certification, on Friday, June 28, at the Woodward Livestock Auction in Woodward, Okla.

As a nationally coordinated, state-implemented program, BQA offers up-to-date best management strategies with a commitment to quality through every segment of the beef industry.

Registration opens at 1:30 p.m. As guests arrive, they can participate in a meet-and-greet with Alan Bowman from Oklahoma State University (OSU) football. Sessions start with a brief introduction at 2:00 p.m. sharing the history of BQA. Rotations will include: Biosecurity, herd health, cow/calf and stock cattle nutrition, and a meat cutting demonstration.

Attendees will complete the BQA exam at 6:00 p.m. Complete the BQA exam to be entered for a chance to win registration to Feeding Quality Forum, including a one-night hotel stay in Dodge City, Kan., for the event. Other giveaways include a Yeti cooler filled with Certified Angus Beef ® steaks. The program concludes with a Certified Angus Beef ® brand dinner and a market update from Paul Dykstra from CAB.

Raised with Respect™

The Oklahoma BQA workshop is the final training and certification opportunity from the first year of the partnership between CAB and Sysco.

In 2023, CAB and Sysco launched a cattle care partnership and a new campaign, Raised with Respect™. This campaign leans into the decades old practices of cattle care to tell a stronger ranch story to Sysco’s customers in a way that builds confidence and trust in high-quality beef.

“Certified Angus Beef supports BQA because it’s a credible and effective way for producers to communicate animal welfare to people on the opposite end of the beef supply chain,” says Bruce Cobb, CAB executive vice president of production. “By building trust with this segment and consumers, we can help secure the strong beef demand we’ve been experiencing into the future.”
