At the 2024 LMA Convention and World Livestock Auctioneer Championship in OKC, Senior Farm and Ranch Broadcaster Ron Hays had the chance to talk with Oklahoma’s Attorney General Gentner Drummond about cattle rustling, illegal grow operations, and pushing back on regulations from the Biden Administration.

“From the law enforcement side, we have got a lot of cattle rustling and thievery that needs to be prosecuted,” Drummond said. “Our local prosecutors are busy with rapes, murders and things like that. I am delivering the message to them that this is a crime that you must prosecute, and if you will not prosecute it, I will.”

Going through Oklahoma’s Multi-County Grand Jury, Drummond said there is currently a significant cattle rustling operation being prosecuted, which he believes will end in a successful prosecution.

“I am available for every Oklahoman in all 77 counties to enforce this law,” Drummond said.

On the medical marijuana scene, Drummond said on average, he and his task force have been shutting down 15 illegal grow houses per day for the last 12 months.

“We are almost to the point of being manageable, but there is still a lot of those sneaky fellas out there,” Drummond said. “Any listener that believes they know where an illegal grow facility is can go to the Oklahoma Attorney General’s website and there is a secure link you can click to anonymously provide detail. We will assign a case number, we will investigate, and we will prosecute.”

Drummond said the battle continues, pushing back against the Biden Administration’s attempts to overregulate Oklahoma’s farmers and ranchers.  Click the listen bar above to hear the full conversation!
