On Tuesdays, Senior Farm and Ranch Broadcaster, Ron Hays, visits with Ben Hale of Western Livestock Auctions as he talks about the latest in the markets and more. Established in 1995, Western has grown into a multi-generational family-owned and operated business and stands as a symbol of tradition, excellence, and a deep-rooted passion for the cattle industry. Western Livestock Auctions are located in Oklahoma City, Woodward, and Comanche.
Hale said that his Monday sale featured some good cattle in good condition, and although the run may have been a little down, he was pleased overall with the outcome of the sale.
“They are wanting to buy them cheaper, and I understand,” Hale said. “The calf market is staying surprisingly good, despite the heat, and how tough it is to sell the feeder cattle to the fat board, but there is still a lot of optimism on the grazing cattle.”
He expected 250-300 cows to sell at Woodward today, and Comanche also expects a good turnout tomorrow. He added that fat cattle held at $1.83 – $1.84 last week and he expects the same this week.
Oklahoma National Stockyards in Oklahoma City will be closed on both Monday and Tuesday for the Labor Day holiday, but the Comanche and Woodward sales won’t change.
