On this edition of the Beef Buzz, Oklahoma Farm Report’s Ron Hays features an interview that KC Sheperd had this summer with Cheyenne Sparks about her role to be a CattleCon Influencer for the 2025 Cattle Industry Convention and NCBA Trade Show.
Former Oklahoma Cattlewoman President and current National Cattlemen’s Beef Association’s 2025 CattleCon influencer Cheyenne Sparks about her role.
“As influencers, we get to go around and tell people about the education, entertainment, and networking opportunities that you will find at the Cattle Convention down there in San Antonio, Texas, this year. You can grow as a producer, learn new technologies, learn about legislation, and anything else in the cattle industry that you are interested in. You are going to find it at CattleCon 2025,” she said.
Influencers hail from all parts of the United States and apply for the position. “You meet such amazing people, and although our title is influencers, but we are cattlepeople. Some are veterinarians, or nutritionists, and own communication companies. We are a very varied group, but as long as you have a connection to the cattle industry and a love for beef, you will fit right in with influencers,” Sparks commented.
Nutritionists have been some of Sparks’s favorite speakers at past events, but she said that the legislative sessions are also very important. “Legislation is a big deal right now, and as producers, we need to make sure that we have a say in what is going on in our industry. NCBA gives us that voice. When you go to cattle convention, you actually get to be there in the room and voice your opinions and hear about what is going on right now in cattle legislation,” she explained.
Sparks also emphasized the importance of membership with the NCBA and the National Cattlewoman’s Association because it gives producers a direct link to important information in the cattle industry. “They kind of break it down to where you can understand it even if you don’t have a legislative background. Those memberships are highly recommended, but not required to attend CattleCon.”
The Cattle ConventionTradeshow spans nine acres of booths, equipment, activities, and even a kids corral for the little cow pokes to enjoy.
CattleCon will be February 4-6, 2025, and registration is now open at convention.ncba.org. For anyone interested in keeping up with activities and events to be held at CattleCon, Sparks invited them to follow her on Instagram @Twosparkscc or through her other social media channels.
