Ben Hale with the Western Livestock Commission Company at the Oklahoma National Stockyards tells Oklahoma Farm Report’s Ron Hays that the market and the mood at the Oklahoma National Stockyards was very upbeat on Monday with calves and yearlings both higher.
Hale says “we caught that rally from last week- after Monday (a week ago) it was better all week- and they were talking about Fats being bought forfour dollars less…but they ended up at $1.80 to $1.81 which ended up being about steady for the week.” He says a lot of folks in the business are starting to focus out on the upcoming Cattle on Feed report that’s coming at the end of the week.
Hale adds that there is a lot of pressure on unweaned calves coming thru the market- at the same time- value added calves are bringing a premium- “There’s definitely a spread in it right now” and we will really see it if we could get some rain in Oklahoma and Texas.
