Oklahoma Winter Wheat Conditions Rate 35 Percent Good to Excellent

According to the latest Oklahoma Crop Progress and Condition Report released on March 3, 2025, winter wheat grazed reached 47 percent, down 10 points from the previous year with no data on a five-year average. Conditions were rated 35 percent good to excellent, 36 percent fair, and 29 percent poor to very poor.

Pasture and range conditions rated 35 percent good to excellent, 33 percent fair, and 32 percent poor to very poor.

Livestock conditions rated 51 percent good to excellent, 35 percent fair, and 14 percent poor to very poor.

Rainfall totals in Oklahoma averaged 0.17 inches. According to the February 25th US Drought Monitor Report, drought conditions were rated 81 percent abnormally dry to exceptional drought, up 50 points from previous year. Additionally, 18 percent of the state was in the moderate drought to exceptional drought categories, up 15 points from the previous year. Statewide, temperatures averaged in the 50’s. Topsoil and subsoil moisture conditions were rated adequate to short. There were 6.5 days suitable for fieldwork.

In Kansas:

Winter wheat conditions rated 54 percent good to excellent, 32 percent fair, and 14 percent poor to very poor.

In Texas:

Winter wheat headed reached 8 percent, down 1 percentage point from the previous year and down 4 points from the five-year average. Winter wheat conditions rated 34 percent good to excellent, 33 percent fair, and 33 percent poor to very poor. Last week’s conditions rated 37 percent good to excellent, 33 percent fair, and 30 percent poor to very poor.

Range and pasture conditions rated 9 percent good to excellent, 26 percent fair, and 65 percent poor to very poor. Last week’s conditions rated 9 percent good to excellent, 27 percent fair, and 64 percent poor to very poor.
