Oklahoma Wheat Commission Sets Board Election for Eastern Half of Oklahoma on Wednesday in Ponca City

The Oklahoma Wheat Commission (OWC) will hold an election to fill the District 5 board seat opening. The election will be held Wednesday, May 14, 2025, commencing at 1:00 p.m. at the Pioneer Technology Center in Ponca City- (Conference Center B, 2101 N. Ash, Ponca City, OK 74601.)

District 5, encompasses all counties east of the western boundary lines of Kay, Noble, Logan, Oklahoma, Cleveland, Grady, Stephens and Jefferson counties.

All wheat producers within District 5 boundaries who are actively engaged in wheat production, have marketed wheat, have paid a check-off fee and left that fee with the OWC for the current marketing year (June 1, 2024-May 31, 2025) are eligible to vote. It will be the responsibility of the producer to prove their eligibility to vote by providing a dated grain elevator receipt including the producer’s name and amount of wheat sold, and a driver’s license or some other form of identification.

Candidates wishing to run in the election must be at least 25 years old, a resident of Oklahoma, engaged in growing wheat in the state for at least five years and must derive a substantial portion of his/her income from growing wheat.

Three nominations will be made at the election, from which the Oklahoma Secretary of Agriculture will appoint one person to serve a five-year term with the Oklahoma Wheat Commission. The Commission’s District 5 board meeting, which is open to the public, will begin at 9:00 a.m.

Lunch will be served at 12:00 noon and is sponsored by the Oklahoma Wheat Growers Association. All producers planning to vote should bring all documentation required and must be checked in at the polling booth by 1:00 p.m. when the voting process begins.
