USDA Calls Oklahoma Wheat Harvest 71% Complete- Sees Slight Improvement in US Corn and Cotton Ratings

The condition of the U.S. corn crop increased slightly while soybean conditions remained unchanged last week, according to USDA NASS’s weekly Crop Progress report released on Monday. In the US Cotton, the 2025 Cotton Crop improved by four points from a week ago to 51% good-to-excellent.

Corn silking was 8% and 73% of the crop was rated in good-to-excellent condition.

Soybeans were 94% emerged, with 66% rated in good-to-excellent condition.

The US Grain Sorghum crop is rated 64% in good-to-excellent condition- an improvement of three points from last week.

NASS estimated U.S. winter wheat condition at 48% good to excellent, down 1 point from 49% the previous week. The crop was 37% harvested- a jump of 18 points from week ago but 15 points under the harvested number of one year ago.

The US Pasture and Range conditions remains unchanged in good-to-excellent ratings of a week ago at 43%. That’s well under the 48% good-to-excellent rating at this point in 2024.

In the southern plains- the 2025 Oklahoma winter wheat crop harvest continues to lag the 2024 harvest badly- but was able to make good progress in the latest week. USDA says the crop is now 71% harvested- up from the 35% a week ago but well behind the 99% harvested number of 2024.

Our neighbors in Texas have hit 80% of the wheat crop harvested, down five points from where they were a year ago and five points behind the five year average. In Kansas, the harvest has hit the halfway mark at 53% versus 76% in 2025 but just three points under the five year average.

As for our spring planted crops in Oklahoma– here’s our latest conditions ratings:

Corn is at 63% good-to-excellent this week, down one point from aa week ago and two points from one year ago.

Soybeans are at 53% good-to-excellent this week- the same percentage as a week ago but ten points under the 63% of one year ago.

Cotton stands at 67% good-to-excellent this week, unchanged from a week ago. Cotton was 69% good-to-excellent one year ago in 2024.

Grain sorghum is 76% in good-to-excellent condition this week versus 68% good-to-excellent last week and well above the 52% good-to-excellent at this point in 2024.

Pasture and range conditions in Oklahoma this week stands at 71% good-to-excellent which is down six points of a week ago at 77%. The year ago Pasture Range rating for Oklahoma was just 53% good-to-excellent.

Kansas Corn is at 66% good-to-excellent this week versus 65% good-to-excellent last week.

Kansas soybeans are 67% good-to-excellent this week versus 64% last week.

Kansas cotton is rated 31% good-to-excellent this week versus 32% one week ago.

Kansas grain sorghum is 60% good-to-excellent this week versus 59% last week.

Pasture and Range ratings for Kansas have reached 66% good-to-excellent this week- up five points from a week ago at 61%. Kansas Pasture/Range ratings a year ago stood at 57% good-to-excellent.

Checking Texas spring planted crops and Pasture/Range Ratings:

Texas corn crop ratings at 67% good-to-excellent- way higher than the 52% a week ago.

Texas cotton is rated 40% good-to-excellent this week- an improvement of 5 points from the 35% good-to-excellent of last week.

Texas Grain Sorghum is 68% good-to-excellent this week- four points up from the 64% of last week.

Finally- Texas Pasture and Range ratings have reached 50% good-to-excellent compared to 49% a week ago and the 37% good-to-excellent of one year ago.
