The Oklahoma City Community Foundation is pleased to announce it has awarded Good Dogma a $5,000 grant, renewable over three years, to support its spay and neuter assistance program.
Good Dogma is the first organization to receive this kind of grant from OCCF’s newly established Animal Welfare Community Grant Program, which promotes animal welfare in Central Oklahoma by increasing access to affordable spay and neuter services. Early grants will focus on increasing access to affordable spay and neuter services. As more contributions are received, OCCF will expand funding.
Good Dogma works to save the lives of dogs and cats by reducing pet overpopulation in Midwest City, Okla., and surrounding communities. This promotes responsible pet ownership and supports healthy pet communities.
“At the Oklahoma City Community Foundation, we know pets bring comfort and connection that improve the lives of individuals and families,” said Trisha Finnegan, president and CEO of the Oklahoma City Community Foundation. “By supporting care for local pets, we are helping families and enhancing animal welfare.”
The Animal Welfare Community Grant Program is beginning with a limited pool of funding, but OCCF believes it is important to start making an impact right away. As support from donors and the community grows, the fund will expand to provide even greater support for animal welfare.
This grant program grew from the Best Friends of Pets endowment fund at OCCF, established by Kim and Bill Schlittler. Best Friends of Pets dissolved in 2024, but through this initiative, funding will continue to impact the lives of pets and pet owners.
“Pets are an important part of many Oklahoma families,” said Kim and Bill Schlittler. “We are excited that Good Dogma is the first grant recipient, so that more families can receive services for the pets they love, and we all work together to address pet overpopulation in our community.”

Contributing to OCCF’s Animal Welfare Community Grant Program helps provide critical support to local nonprofits that care for animals, promote responsible pet ownership, and protect the well-being of pets in our community.
