Senator Green Named Oklahoma Farm Bureau Champion

Sen. Grant Green, R-Wellston, was recently presented with the Oklahoma Farm Bureau’s Champion Award for his defense of rural property rights and unwavering support for Oklahoma farmers and ranchers.

“I’m truly honored to receive this award from the Oklahoma Farm Bureau,” Senator Green said. “Protecting the rights of rural landowners has always been a top priority for me because farming and ranching are a critical industry that keeps Oklahoma’s economy strong. Agriculture is a way of life for so many Oklahomans, including myself and my family, and I’ll keep working to make sure rural voices are heard at the Capitol.”

Green, who chairs the Senate Energy Committee, was recognized for carrying key legislation to protect private property rights. He coauthored legislation that significantly limits the use of eminent domain for high-voltage transmission facilities and requires regulatory review of transmission projects. He also signed onto a bill that prohibits the use of eminent domain for wind, solar, battery storage and hydrogen-energy facilities without a property owner’s consent.

He was one of just six state lawmakers to receive this prestigious award at the Farm Bureau’s annual banquet, held Saturday in Oklahoma City.

“I will always stand up for Oklahoma’s farmers and ranchers,” Green said. “These hardworking landowners helped build this state, and they deserve strong protections from government overreach and unjust land grabs.”

A longtime farmer and rancher, Green has spent much of his life running cattle and cutting hay on a family farm in Wellston.
