Jane Dever Inducted into the Cotton Research and Promotion Hall of Fame

The cotton breeder who played a major role in transforming the landscape of cotton genetics on the Texas High Plains was inducted into the Cotton Research and Promotion Hall of Fame on December 9, 2025, at the joint meeting of Cotton Incorporated and The Cotton Board.

While Jane is currently doing great things in South Carolina running the Pee Dee Research and Education Center at Clemson University, we will always claim her as our fellow High Plainsman and are so proud that she has been recognized for her decades-long commitment to High Plains cotton.

And, while her portfolio is undoubtedly impressive, the person behind the research is what makes her a “Hall of Famer.”

The Jane Dever that we all know is epitomized in something she said many years ago:

“My heart is in the High Plains of Texas where I first fell in love with the science of cotton breeding.”

In a world where most are claiming the credit and glory, there’s Jane, who has always said her research doesn’t belong to her. “It belongs to the Texas High Plains cotton producers.”
