Cattlemen’s Congress Moves Into the Home Stretch

The weekend was busy and filled with shows and sales at the 6th Cattlemen’s Congress. Among the results- Express Ranches took Champion honors at the Super ROV Angus Heifer & Bull Pen & Carload Show. On Sunday afternoon, the newest breed to be shown at Cattlemen’s Congress, Wagyu, held their inaugural show with exhibitors from three states showing their animals.

Seven sales were held Friday through Sunday evening- representing the Angus, Hereford, Shorthorn, Chianina, Maine-Anjou, Simmental and Saler breeds. The National Angus Bull Sale was strong, with 28 lots selling for an average of $22,651 per bull for a total of $634,250 on Friday. On Saturday, the C the Difference Chianina Sale offered 20 lots and totalled $161,000. Earlier in the week, the Denim and Diamonds Angus sale grossed $1,558,850. Other sale totals that we have dug up from the week include the Congressional Gelbvieh and Balancer Sale that totalled $343,600 gross- up 175% from the last time the sale was in OKC in 2024, Angus at the Congress grossed $489,000, Reds Stockyard City Sale featured just 7 live lots and 32 Frozen Embryo Lots and brought in $261,000 and finally- The Essential Genetics Sale by Premium Beef Genetics more than DOUBLED last year’s gross as it brought in $555,350.

The final days of Congress include the Collegiate Livestock Judging Contest on Monday morning, a second Junior Speech Contest on Monday and Simmental, Chianina, Salers and Braford cattle shows in the OG&E Coliseum. Looking ahead- the awards breakfast for the Collegiate Livestock Judging contest is Tuesday, as is the Supreme Drive for the 2026 Congress at 5 PM. Wednesday- the American Supreme Drive will happen- also at 5 PM.
