The Grow Local Support Fund has recently launched with a goal of supporting urban and small-scale producers in strengthening local food systems within the Chickasaw Nation Treaty Territory!
This project is supported by the Southern Oklahoma Urban & Small Farm Hub team, which invites proposals for projects that will increase producer capacity to grow food, expand access to fresh, healthy food, improve knowledge, and more.
The Oklahoma Conservation Commission, Murray State College, Chickasaw Nation, the Oklahoma Association of Conservation Districts, and the Arbuckle Conservation District are proud to announce the Southern Oklahoma Urban and Small Farm Hub in Ardmore, Oklahoma. Located at Murray State College’s Ardmore campus, the hub will serve as a critical resource site, offering technical assistance, individualized farm planning, educational training, grants, cost-share programs, and retail opportunities.
Our mission is to assist farmers and community members by serving as a resource site and a centralized place to receive support and education. Some of our initiatives include:
- Increasing producer capacity to grow food, expand operations, implement regenerative practices, and improve long-term sustainability
- Expand access to fresh, healthy food within local communities
- Improve knowledge of benefits of local food production and nutrient-dense foods
- Advance current local food production efforts within the Chickasaw Nation treaty territory
All farmers who are recognized by USDA standards as Small and Urban (farms with gross income less than $350,000) and community members within the Chickasaw Treaty Territory (see map below) are invited to participate in the hub’s services and offerings.
