“Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.” – Helen Keller. On August 3-4, the Alva FFA Officer Team put this quote into action at their annual Alva FFA Officer Retreat.
The Officers worked on team building, connection, and communication, as well as planned the 2024-2025 school year’s Program Of Activities. When not working, the Officers spent time on Lake Eufaula boating, tubing, knee boarding, wakeboarding, and swimming.
The Alva FFA Officer team created a mission statement for this year: “Alva FFA strives to make a positive difference in the lives of students and the community by developing the next generation of agriculture leaders.” This mission statement highlights the Alva FFA Chapter’s love for it’s community, members, and agriculture.
Alva FFA Vice President Avery McMurphy reflects on the weekend by saying this: “Whether we were planning for the school year or mastering the art of not flipping off the tube, we built stronger connections and sharpened our leadership skills. The laughter and near-wipeouts will be cherished memories as we set forwardn into the exciting future we’ve
planned.”
One of the first community events the Officers placed on the agenda is the annual Ice Cream Social, held at Hatfield Park on August 15, 2024 at 5:30 PM. All FFA members, 4-H members, Cloverbuds, and Community members are welcome to attend and eat homemade Icecream. The Officer Team came home with leadership skills in their tool belts, a plan for the
year, a few sunburns, and excitement for the new year.
