USDA Crop Progress Shows US Winter Wheat Harvest Now Just Past Half Completed

The US Winter Wheat Harvest has now pushed across the halfway mark in the 18 states that the National Ag Statistics Service compiles wheat crop data. 53% of the US Wheat harvest is complete, versus 37% a week ago, 62% a year ago and versus the 54% five year average.

Spring crop conditions nationally show the US Corn crop up slightly in the good to excellent categories at 74% good to excellent- up one percentage point from a week ago and up 6 points versus the five year average of 68%.

The US Soybean crop is unchanged from the last two weeks at 66% good to excellent condition and versus 68% good to excellent at this point a year ago.

Cotton crop conditions edged higher in this week’s report to 52% good to excellent- up one point from last week and up seven points compared to the 45%good to excellent rating of this week in 2024.

Grain Sorghum stands at 67% good to excellent this week versus 64% good to excellent last week and 59% good to excellent one year ago.

Finally- the US Pasture and Range Conditions improved week over week- helped by a big improvement in Texas. The US Pasture and Range condition is at 45% good to excellent versus 43% good to excellent of last week and the five year average of 44%.

In the southern plains- the 2025 Oklahoma winter wheat crop harvest continues to lag the 2024 harvest as we now stand at 83% harvested versus 100% complete at this point in 2024- Oklahoma wheat harvest did improve by 12 points from the 71% harvest from a week ago.

Kansas wheat producers had the peddle to the metal as June turned into July as harvest advanced from 53% reported in the last week of June to 82% this week- which compares to 90% at this time a year ago.

Texas harvested very little this past week- moving the harvested number from 80% to 83% over the last week- and that’s versus 91% a year ago.

As for our Summer crops in Oklahoma:

Corn crop conditions are now at 72% good to excellent this week versus 68% a week ago and 66% a year ago.
The Oklahoma soybean crop is at 59% good to excellent this week versus 53% a week ago and 55% a year ago.
Cotton in Oklahoma is rated 60% Good to excellent this week- well under the 67% of a week ago.
Grain Sorghum sits at 76% good to excellent this week- the same condition of the crop as last week.
And Pasture and Range conditions are at 70% good to excellent this week versus 71% good to excellent one week ago.

Checking Summer crops and Pastures in Kansas:

Corn crop conditions are rated 72% good to excellent this week- six points better than a week ago.
Soybean conditions are also rated 72% good to excellent this week versus 67% good to excellent last week.
Cotton conditions in Kansas are rated 37% good to excellent this week versus 31% a week ago.
Grain Sorghum crop ratings are 66% good to excellent this week versus 60% a week ago,
And Pasture and Range ratings are 63% good to excellent this week-they were 66% good to excellent one week ago.

Corn crop conditions are rated 68% good to excellent this week- one point better than a week ago.
Cotton conditions in Texas are rated 42% good to excellent this week versus 40% a week ago.
Grain Sorghum crop ratings are 66% good to excellent this week versus 68% a week ago,
And Pasture and Range ratings are 60% good to excellent this week-they were 50% good to excellent one week ago
