
Oklahoma State University Agriculture would like to invite you to the Lahoma Wheat Field Day from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on May 15 at the OSU North Central Research Station in Lahoma where our wheat experts will talk about their latest innovations and discoveries in the wheat variety trials and the OSU wheat breeding program.
OSU Agriculture Field Days are educational events presented by OSU Ag Research and OSU Extension to share research-based information and resources with Oklahomans. Field days showcase current agricultural research and relevant best practices through presentations, tours, hands-on workshops and discussions.
This event is a great opportunity to mingle with members of the OSU Wheat Improvement Team and their various industry partners as well as producers while learning about what goes on in the wheat research and Extension programs.
The following is the schedule for the event:
- Welcome and OSU updates from President Jim Hess and OSU Agriculture leadership
- Wheat variety trial and Wheat Rover demonstration – Amanda Silva, associate professor and Extension specialist, small grains
- Wheat seeding rate research – Amanda Silva
- Wheat disease update and management – Meriem Aoun, assistant professor and small grains pathologist
- Wheat improvement for the north central region – Brett Carver, Regents professor and Wheat Improvement Team lead
- Cultural and fall-applied chemical weed control in wheat – Liberty Galvin, assistant professor and Extension specialist, weed science
- CoAxium wheat herbicide tolerance – Brett Carver; Jeff Wright, Oklahoma Foundation Seed Stocks coordinator of production operations
- Exploring long-term soil health & fertility impacts of manure application to wheat – Daniel Adamson, assistant professor and Extension specialist, soil and water management and conservation
