NACD Welcomes NRCS Priorities Focused on Working Lands, Locally Led Conservation

The National Association of Conservation Districts (NACD) welcomes the priorities that Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) Chief Colton L. Buckley recently announced to guide agency operations, program delivery, stakeholder engagement, and modernization efforts.

“For 90 years, conservation districts have worked in the field, side-by-side with NRCS to ensure that conservation programs are voluntary, locally led, and meet the unique needs of the producers and communities they serve,” said NACD President Gary Blair. “NACD applauds NRCS’s reaffirmed commitment to strengthen local capacity and deliver the technical assistance producers need to get conservation on the ground, leveraging technology to optimize delivery and track progress to better tell the story of how producer-implemented conservation benefits us all.”

As NRCS implements these priorities, NACD and conservation districts across the country look forward to continuing to partner with NRCS to strengthen voluntary natural resources conservation and ensure that working lands remain productive and resilient while protecting soil and water health for future generations.
