The Oklahoma Farm Bureau Women’s Leadership Committee is rolling out a series of regional meetings from August through October designed to engage, educate, and empower women involved in agriculture across the state. Farm Director KC Sheperd recently sat down with OKFB’s Mignon Bolay to discuss the initiative, which aims to build confidence, foster local advocacy, and provide networking opportunities for women at all stages of agricultural life.
Bolay explained that the idea developed after hearing feedback from women who wanted more guidance and confidence in their leadership roles. The free regional events are open to all women—regardless of whether they are current Farm Bureau members—and feature roundtable discussions and unique programming tailored to each district.

Diverse Programming Across Oklahoma Districts
Each regional gathering will offer a distinct focus so attendees can visit multiple sessions and gain new insights:
- District 1 (Woodward – Aug. 29): Features practical training on utilizing “Ag in the Classroom” resources and working effectively with local teachers.
- District 7: Welcomes Laren Leach of Mind Your Manners Etiquette to share leadership tips and explain how simple manners and small actions leave lasting impressions.
- Spiro (September): Features Cyndi Mackie leading a session on partnering with educators through “Ag in the Classroom.”
- District 3 (Karen Dodson’s Area): Highlights the Fort Reno Grazing Lands research and shares promotional ideas tied to historic Route 66.
- Districts 2, 4, and 8 (Duncan): Spotlights the Hughes County trail program and includes an interactive breakout workshop on the legislative process.
Open to All Women in Agriculture
Whether attendees are multi-generation producers, beginning farmers, educators, healthcare workers, business owners, or retirees, Bolay emphasized that every background has a seat at the table.
All sessions are free to attend and include provided meals or snacks. Because space and catering must be planned, OKFB asks attendees to RSVP online. Complete event dates, location details, and registration links are available at okfb.news.
