In the August 14 Cotton News newsletter, we published the 2025 PLC projected payment rate as released by the U.S. Department of Agriculture Farm Service Agency. In August, the projected payment rate was set at $0.811 per seed cotton pound.
However, the projected payment rate has now been adjusted to $0.789 per seed cotton pound. USDA has not finalized the rate as of press time (final rates will be published September 30), so we are presenting the new data with the most recent projected rate.
Again, for 2025 specifically, a grower will receive the higher of ARC or PLC regardless of how they initially enrolled. This is for the 2025 crop year only, which leads us to the 2026 discussion.
