USDA Rural Development Invests $25 Billion to Strengthen Rural Communities Nationwide

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Rural Development recently announced nearly $25 billion in rural community investments nationwide in fiscal year 2026. These projects strengthen essential infrastructure, expand housing and business opportunities, and ensure rural families and farmers have the tools they need to succeed.

In Oklahoma, Rural Development invested more than $530 million in loans and grants in fiscal year 2026 to support these efforts.

“President Trump and his leadership team within USDA has helped deliver historic support for Oklahoma farm and ranch communities, that will be a key driver in supporting Oklahoma agriculture growth for years to come,” said Zachary Swartz, USDA Rural Development State Director for Oklahoma. “These historic levels of support for rural infrastructure across the nation wouldn’t be possible without our Oklahoma Congressional Delegation, who have worked daily with the Administration to deliver on President Trump’s promise to support and grow America’s agriculture sector.”

These nationwide investments are supporting local priorities in Oklahoma and delivering real results for rural residents, farmers, businesses, and communities, including:

  • · Rural Development has invested $20,827,000 in McCurtain County to support Idabel Public Works Authority to build a new water treatment plant
  • · Rural Development has invested $465,000 in Osage County to aid the City of Hominy in making emergency water line repairs after a severe storm caused damage to a major water transmission line
  • · Rural Development has invested $685,580 with Forest Grove School District to assist in providing distance learning opportunities for 1,445 students in Adair, Choctaw, Le Flore, McCurtain and Pushmataha Counties
  • · Rural Development has invested $61,759,754 in supporting small rural businesses and oil and gas enterprises delivering expanded job opportunities and improving sales tax revenue for rural Oklahoma communities
  • · Rural Development has invested $235,496,957 in affordable housing and housing repairs for rural Oklahomans
  • The investments mark only the beginning of USDA’s commitment to deliver resources that communities can rely on to improve their quality of life. Focusing on the needs of rural America helps build more resilient communities across the nation.

Looking ahead, USDA Rural Development will continue to deliver targeted investments that strengthen our communities by responding to rural needs across Oklahoma.
