U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development Oklahoma State Director Zachary Swartz announced today that the Trump Administration provided $97,000 in funding to purchase equipment and a vehicle for Wewoka and New Lima Public Schools. State Director Swartz was joined by Congresswoman Stephanie Bice (OK-5) for the announcement.

The administration’s investment will provide Wewoka Public Schools with an accessible van to assist transportation needs of disabled students. The investment for New Lima Public schools will support the school’s efforts with new agriculture equipment for their newly established Future Farmers of America (FFA) Chapter, which was founded in the fall of 2025.
“This administration has made it a priority for USDA to look for opportunities where we can assist rural schools like Wewoka and New Lima succeed with investments that support their long-term needs and immediate concerns for academic success,” said Swartz. “Additionally, Oklahomans have no better advocates for rural Oklahoma needs than our congressional delegation, so it is a tremendous honor to have Congresswoman Bice stand with USDA and help us announce this investment in Seminole County.”

“I appreciate the Trump Administration’s and USDA’s focus on prioritizing rural schools in Oklahoma’s Fifth Congressional District,” said Congresswoman Bice. “These incredible investments will help Wewoka Public Schools better serve students with disabilities while giving New Lima students more opportunities to explore agriculture through their FFA program.”
The funding is provided through USDA Rural Development’s Community Facility Programs. This program provides affordable funding to develop essential community facilities in rural Oklahoma. Rural Development is a leader in helping rural America improve the quality of life and increase the economic opportunities for rural people.
