Register now for the Landscape & Turf Field Day on Sept. 16

 Oklahoma State University Agriculture will host its annual Turf & Landscape Field Day on Sept. 16, giving turfgrass and landscape professionals an opportunity to learn about OSU’s research on turf varieties and management, weed, pest and disease management, irrigation and plant selection, and to look into OSU’s new horticulture breeding program.

OSU Agriculture Field Days are educational events presented by OSU Ag Research and OSU Extension that share research-based information and resources with Oklahomans. Field days showcase current agricultural research and relevant best practices through presentations, tours, hands-on workshops and discussions. Research at OSU locations across the state is often designed for specific applications based on the region.

  • National Turfgrass Evaluation Program (NTEP) updates – Dennis Martin, professor and Extension specialist for turfgrass; Andrea Connally, Extension program educator, turf and roadside
  • Urban soils – Casey Hentges, associate Extension specialist, horticulture
  • Water requirements of bermudagrass – Binod Pokhrel, turf Ph.D. student
  • Meet the new ornamentals breeder – Chi Nguyen, assistant professor, ornamental breeding
  • Turf disease update – Nathan Walker, professor and Extension specialist, turf disease and pest diagnosis
  • Hops for the landscape – Kaitlyn Constien, horticulture master’s student
  • A native sun/shade mix for Oklahoma – Shuhao Yu, research assistant professor, turfgrass breeding and genetics; Prajjwal Koirala, turf MS student
  • Pecan insect management – Kelly Seuhs, associate Extension specialist, entomology
  • Pollinator-friendly lawns – Charles Fontanier, associate professor, turf management; Anika Aziz, turf MS student
  • Bermudagrass breeding update – Yanqi Wu, Regents professor, grass breeding
  • New edibles for the landscape – JoHannah Biang, assistant professor, landscape management; Bronika Thapa, horticulture master’s student
  • Warm-season putting green NTEP update – Mingying Xiang, assistant professor and Extension specialist, turfgrass

On-site check-in will be at 7:30 a.m. with coffee and refreshments at 8 a.m. and lunch at 11 a.m.

An exhibitor show will take place all day at the Bentley Turfgrass Center.

Registration is $30 and is required by Sept. 8. The program will be submitted for possible pesticide applicator CEUs in Categories 3a, 10 and private applicator and GCSAA education points. For more information or to register, visit the Field Days website
