Governor Kevin Stitt announced the appointment of Tyler Schnaithman to the Oklahoma State Board of Agriculture, representing District 1, pending confirmation by the Oklahoma State Senate.
Schnaithman is a farmer and rancher who was raised in Garber, Oklahoma. He graduated from Oklahoma State University in May 2017 with a degree in Agricultural Economics. Schnaithman returned home after graduation to continue his family’s farming and ranching operation. Today, he farms with his older brother, Travis, and his dad, Lee, and remains committed to preserving and growing their family’s legacy for the next generation.
“Tyler knows Oklahoma agriculture because he lives it every day,” said Governor Stitt. “He comes from a strong farming and ranching background. He understands the importance of protecting our agricultural economy. He is exactly the kind of leader who will help keep Oklahoma a Top 10 Agriculture State. I am proud to appoint him to the State Board of Agriculture.”
Schnaithman and his wife, Loryn, met through agriculture and FFA at a leadership conference in Washington, D.C. They have four children, Sutton, Baker, Truett, and Tripp. He is also active in Oakwood Christian Church of Enid and enjoys spending time with family and friends, going to the lake, and playing ball with his kids.
“As a 5th generation producer, I’ve always been extremely passionate about agriculture and its future. I’m grateful for the opportunity to serve the northwest region of Oklahoma on the State Board of Agriculture,” said Schnaithman.
The State Board of Agriculture consists of five members appointed by the Governor and confirmed by the Senate. Schnaithman is succeeding Joe Farris.
